Design and Creation of iPOS
Project Description:In 2002 CPIL wanted to develop a version of the ROSS system that bitHeads had developed for the parent company.
CPIL wanted to be able to easily customize and localize the solution for deployment in countries around the world.
The bitHeads Solution:bitHeads has had a long relationship with Canada Post. That relationship began in 1996 when bitHeads provided a team to work with CPC on a custom Point-of-Sale system, the Retail Outlet Service System (ROSS).
Based on that relationship and its earlier efforts, bitHeads was able to easily provide end-to-end, custom software development services for the export version of ROSS. The project included software customization and extensions, as well as localization for all countries CPIL was targeting with the new product.
As part of the effort, bitHeads also provided project management, software development management, business analysis, software development, and quality control.
Results:The new version of ROSS was initially dubbed iROSS and is now known as iPOS. It has been successfully deployed for use by the national postal authority in Kenya, Lebanon, and Netherlands-Antilles.
bitHeads continues to provide development and support services to Canada Post International and its clients.
